In the quaint town of Juzbado, situated just 20 km from Salamanca, a new piece of art has become part of its urban area. Named “High Tide,” this mural now joins an array of works by renowned artists like Ampparito, Taquen, DOA, Pablo S. Herrero, and Marta Lapeña, among others. This extraordinary project is overseen by Javito and is driven by the vision of Juzbado’s mayor, Fernando Rubio.
Completed just weeks ago, “High Tide” takes its inspiration from the historic “Cielo de Salamanca” by Fernando Gallego. It is part of the artist’s ongoing exploration into Salamanca’s rich history. The mural aims to highlight the enduring importance of Gallego’s work, which is celebrated for its historical, aesthetic, and scientific value.
Although “High Tide” does not aim for the same level of fidelity as the original mural in depicting constellations, it acts as a bridge connecting past and present. This contemporary interpretation mirrors our timeless fascination with stars and galaxies, demonstrating how the cosmos can expand our understanding and place our existence within the vast universe.
Through this mural, Juzbado embraces both its historical roots and its modern cultural vitality. It invites both residents and visitors to reflect on our connection to the celestial wonders above.
