In the heart of Aalborg’s historic workers’ neighborhood, amidst the unpredictable dance of sun, rain, and Arctic winds, the acclaimed artist INTI has unveiled his latest masterpiece. Over twelve days of intense creation, he brought to life “TAMARUGO II”, a mural symbolizing the enduring spirit of the Atacama Desert’s native Tamarugo tree—a beacon of resilience and life for its local inhabitants.
The Tamarugo tree, known for thriving in one of Earth's driest regions, serves as INTI’s central motif. The artist aimed to juxtapose the delicate beauty of spring with the rugged allure of this resilient tree. The result is a composition that eloquently speaks of survival, adaptation, and the inherent beauty found in extreme challenges.
INTI, born as Inti Castro in 1982, has etched his name in the global street art scene. Starting at the young age of thirteen on the streets of Valparaiso, he was drawn to street art’s freedom and expressive potential. His artistic journey was further enriched by formal education at the Fine Arts School of Viña del Mar, where he polished his skills while staying true to his street art roots.
INTI's murals are distinguished by vibrant colors reflective of Latin American festivities, infused with ancient South American cultures' mysterious energy. His work blends themes of life, death, ancient spirituality, and Christian symbolism, with mysterious characters enhancing the narrative depth.
Deeply inspired by pre-Columbian and Andean cultures, INTI’s art preserves and reinterprets these cultural symbols in a contemporary context. His murals, often bathed in warm orange hues reminiscent of the sun’s warmth, invite viewers to engage with a visual narrative bridging ancient traditions with modern interpretations.
With "TAMARUGO II", INTI invites the Aalborg community and beyond to reflect on the resilience of nature and the human spirit through his vibrant and technically stunning artwork. Despite being a global ambassador of Latin American street art, INTI remains deeply connected to themes of life, culture, and the power of artistic expression.
